This last week, Mary challenged us to write an essay about our faith, and how it has developed over the last 3 months in Mexico. For those of you with some extra time this Friday evening, and who are truly desiring a deep reflective post....well here is a my response, a very long one, but one that best sums up my faith journey since arriving in August, 12 weeks ago. Disfruta. Enjoy.
"A work of art - that is what my life is. When I
begin to process what has become of me over the last 12 weeks here in Mexico, I
can say that I have changed, but the more accurate statement would be that I am
changing, constantly, consistently, and daily. There has been clear growth in
my character, which other WIM members can attest to. There has been an increase
in my vocabulary and my fluidity of speak, both of which my grades show. There
has been a development of relationships and social connections both within and
outside our team, as is evident by the number of my Mexican friends. However,
the one thing that cannot be measured in growth by anyone else is the area most
sacred to me- my faith. I personally feel like my faith is in a motion, that it
is being worked on. God’s hands are molding me and shaping me, and I can feel
myself being tugged and stretched, pulled in one direction and then shrunk down
in another. I feel the uncertainties, and the fears, because I do not know what
He is doing. I just know God’s got me on the pedestal and is spinning my life
as He chooses, creating my life into the life He wants for me. "
